| 1889 | William T Pates called his first peal of Grandsire Caters. It was a noteworthy peal, being 15,227 changes in length, taking 9 hours and 43 minutes to ring! It surpassed the Oxford Diocesan Guild's record established the year before, and remained the longest length in the method till the Oxford Guild recaptured the record forty-three years later. It was only the ninth time 15,000 changes had been exceeded. See April 11, 1888 and December 27, 1932. | nv |

| 1912 | The first peal of surprise by an all-clerical band was rung on their Gloucestershire tour at the first attempt. They rang Superlative Surprise Major at Prestbury, conducted by Revd H Law James. They lost the attempt to ring the first clerical peal of Stedman Cinques the following day, however. | RW1912/291 |
| 1922 | The Oxford Diocesan Guild and the Ancient Society of College Youths jointly established a record for the longest peal ever rung to this date. It was 21,363 changes of Stedman Caters, rung at Appleton, Berks in 12 hours and 25 minutes, composed by Henry G Miles and conducted by Herbert Langdon. Although more than three thousand changes longer than William Pye's peal in 1909, it only took seven minutes longer, due to the differing weights of the bells. This peal remained the record length for nearly fifty years. It was only the second time the clock had been rung round. See April 12, 1909 and November 4, 1950. | nv |
