| 1883 | A meeting was held in St Thomas School, Salisbury to consider forming a change-ringing society in the city of Salisbury. The St Edmund ringers, headed by their curate, Revd C L Bode, vehemently opposed this suggestion, maintaining that it would interfere with the city's parochial societies.
