1777	George Gross conducted 10,200 Oxford Treble Bob Royal at St Leonard, Shoreditch in 7 hours and 20 minutes. This peal by members of the Society of Cumberland Youths was one in the chain of "contest" long peals with the Society of College Youths. See February 18 and May 19, 1777.	CuY95
1779	Members of the Braughing Youths followed up their long peal of the previous year with one of 12,240 Plain Bob Major in 7 hours and 34 minutes. James Walker was again the composer and conductor. See April 25, 1778.	nv

1893	A special touch of 50 changes of Stedman Caters, arranged by A P Heywood, opened the bells of the Imperial Institute. The ringers were C H Hattersley, G Newson, C F Winney, A P Heywood, H Baker, J W Washbrook, W L Catchpole, Revd G F Coleridge, J W Taylor, Jun, and F G Newman. Over 25,000 people gathered to see Queen Victoria perform the opening ceremony. The ten bells, cast by J Taylor & Co, were the gift of an elderly Australian lady to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of the Queen. See August 9, 1902.	nv
1897	The local band at St Peter, Brighton rang a peal of Superlative Surprise Major, conducted by George Williams. A footnote to the peal commented that all the ringers had rung over one hundred peals, the first time this had been accomplished by a local band.	BN1897/32

The Ancient Society of College Youths went to St Paul, Bedford and rang a peal of Spliced Surprise Maximus in fourteen methods, silent and non-conducted. Members of the Suffolk Guild went to Tannington, Suffolk and rang a double length peal of Doubles, 10,200 changes, in 5 hours and 9 minutes, conducted by Trevor N J Bailey.	nv
