1834	Great Tom of Lincoln was cast on this day. The bell itself bears the date March 25, 1835, which is the date they intended to dedicate the bell. However, as work had not been completed on the tower, it did not leave London until April 6, 1835, travelling on a timber carriage pulled by eight horses. It eventually reached Lincoln on April 13 where it was received by “a procession consisting of the military, public schools, companies of ringers and bands of music”.	CBLi540
1889	The new ring of 12 at the new cathedral of St. Paul, Melbourne, was opened.	nv
1942	The ban on ringing was lifted for one day to celebrate the victory of El Alamein. It was the first time that bells had been rung in England for more than two years.	nv
