1716	“The Flying Post” of this date states: “at about nine o'clock, a tragical accident happened at the Royal Foundry near upper Moorfield, where, when the workmen were casting a cannon, the metal that was running into the mould flew up on a sudden with great noise and violence and came down not only upon all the workmen, but spectators (of whom there was a great number to see the performance). 1753	The Society of Cumberland Youths rang the first peal of Cumberland Bob Major at St Leonard, Shoreditch, composed and conducted by George Partrick. He was one of the most influential members of the society and called many of their peals including their first.	CuY16
1788	The local ringers at Wakefield rang two successive peals of Triples in 7 hours and 1 minute. The first peal was 5040 Wakefield Delight Treble Bob Triples, and the second was 5,040 Oxford Treble Bob Triples, also called Wakefield Surprise Triples. The report continues: “What adds to the singularity of the performance is that there were two fathers, five sons, five brothers, four cousins, one uncle and one nephew yet only eight persons and only two names.” See February 20, 1787.
