1911	The church, tower and spire and ring of six bells at St George's, Leicester, were destroyed by a fire that broke out in a hosiery factory on the edge of the churchyard. A congregation of 800 had gathered to hear the Dean of Lincoln preach at the Harvest Festival Service, but they all escaped safely, the service being abandoned. See January 5, 1857.	RW1991/303
